Day Trip: Hell's Gate National Park & Lake Naivasha Adventure

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi as we head towards the stunning Naivasha region, home to Hell's Gate National Park and Lake Naivasha. Known for their striking natural beauty and rich geological history, these two locations promise a day filled with exploration and wildlife encounters.

Upon arrival at Hell's Gate National Park, your guide will lead you on an exciting cycling or walking safari. Hell's Gate is one of the few national parks in Kenya where visitors can cycle alongside wildlife. As you make your way through the park, keep your camera ready to capture sightings of herbivores such as zebras, giraffes, buffalos, antelopes, warthogs, and wildebeests. The journey leads to the park's highlight—the Ol-Njorowa Gorge. This scenic gorge offers various hiking options, where you can explore the fascinating Devil’s Showers and Devil’s Kitchen, areas known for their unique geothermal activity, where hot water falls or bubbles from the earth.

After the exhilarating hike, you'll head to the Olkaria Geothermal Spa for a refreshing swim in its natural hot spring pools. The spa, the largest of its kind in East and Central Africa, offers water temperatures ranging from 30°C to over 60°C, providing a relaxing experience with natural health benefits for your skin and muscles.

Lunch is optional (and not included in the package), and you’ll have time to enjoy a meal before continuing the second part of your journey.

In the afternoon, the tour moves on to Lake Naivasha, where you’ll embark on a peaceful boat ride. As you cruise along the lake, you’ll have the opportunity to spot hippos and observe a wide variety of bird species, with more than 350 calling the lake home. The shores of Lake Naivasha also offer breathtaking views of Mt. Longonot and the surrounding landscape.

The boat ride will take you to the shores of Crescent Island, a private conservancy where you’ll enjoy great views of the Island and wildlife from the boat (this is a private sanctuary and park entrance is not included in the package). Here, you’ll be able to spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and many other animals and flocks of birds such as Pelicans and Egyptian Geese in their natural habitat, all while soaking in the serenity of this beautiful area.

As the day comes to an end, you’ll be driven back to Nairobi, concluding your adventure-filled day with incredible memories of Kenya’s natural wonders.
